Job Purpose:
The Director, Third-Party Management (Medical Writing) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the delivery of services and projects through strategic partnerships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring efficient, high-quality outputs while maintaining rigorous standards of compliance, proactively managing supplier risk, and driving issue resolution in close collaboration with the Medical Writing Leadership Team ; working closely with internal stakeholders, the role provides robust vendor oversight, drives continuous improvement in operational performance, and fosters strong, value-driven partnerships to maximize the impact of third-party engagements and support the organization’s strategic objectives.

Job Purpose:
The Director, Third-Party Management (Medical Writing) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the delivery of services and projects through strategic partnerships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring efficient, high-quality outputs while maintaining rigorous standards of compliance, proactively managing supplier risk, and driving issue resolution in close collaboration with the Medical Writing Leadership Team ; working closely with internal stakeholders, the role provides robust vendor oversight, drives continuous improvement in operational performance, and fosters strong, value-driven partnerships to maximize the impact of third-party engagements and support the organization’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build effective, collaborative relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders (eg MW Global Head, MW TA Heads, Finance and Procurement) to align on priorities, resourcing, finance forecasting, vendor onboarding, and contracting.
- Support allocation of work across vendors aligned to capacity and capability and ensure appropriate utilization of vendors to meet project timelines and portfolio demands.
- Define and monitor KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs) for Medical Writing vendors.
- Monitor cost vs. performance to ensure value delivery.
- Lead and conduct regular performance reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive harmonization of ways of working across vendors.
- Ensure adherence to GSK Third Party Management frameworks, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Ensure risk mitigation plans related to Thirds Party Vendors are implemented and tracked.
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent in Business Administration or Finance
- Proven strategic & enterprise thinking with strong business acumen in the Pharma Industry, Biotech or CRO.
- Proven leadership operating in a matrix environment, ability to constructively challenge practices with senior leaders; possess negotiation skills and ability to influence with or without authority at all levels of the organization.
- Experience working independently and the ability to quickly build personal credibility and assimilate business issues/need.
- Strong influencing and negotiations skills in challenging, ambiguous and/or changing environments.
- Ability to build credibility quickly across a diverse range of internal and external teams seniority, and geography.
- Highly effective verbal, written, presentation communications skills.
- Advanced degree
