As a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Cloud Foundation Services (CFS) team, you specialize in the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and play a crucial role in developing high-quality architecture solutions for various software applications and platform products. You promote significant business impact and help shape the target state architecture through your expertise in public cloud architecture domains. In CFS, our goal is to accelerate our evolution into a cloud software-based infrastructure by creating the policies, tools, and processes that our development teams can leverage. CFS delivers innovative, high-quality, cost-effective, fit-for-purpose cloud infrastructure technology solutions for application partners firm-wide. You will work as part of a strong, supportive team to create, review, and apply architecture solutions based on our long-term strategy, while guiding the organization towards a strategic target state.

Job responsibilities

  • Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert on the Google Cloud Platform
  • Provide feedback and proposes improvements to architecture governance practices
  • Guide evaluation of current technology and leads evaluation of new technologies using existing standards and frameworks
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Influence peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Google Cloud Platform concepts and proficient advanced experience
  • Advanced knowledge of tools, patterns and best practices for building and operating applications on Google Cloud Platform
  • Drive the Google Cloud Platform design, architecture, and technical understanding across Infrastructure Platforms by providing technical direction and design thought leadership
  • Engage with peer architects and technologists to function as a technical advisor on Google Cloud services and architectural patterns
  • Work with LOB teams to influence the adoption of Google Cloud in a safe, secure, resilient, and scalable manner
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in Google Cloud
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (financial, healthcare, gov, etc.)
  • Multi-CSP experience; integrating cross-cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) services such as multi-cloud networking, IAM federation, multi-cloud data platforms and content delivery, or cross-cloud migrations (private to public, public to alternate CSP)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to select or recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture

  • Establishes and communicates a clear technology vision, securing organizational support through presentations, publications, workshops, and interpersonal communication.
  • Participates in major technical decisions by developing proposals that evaluate alternatives and business cases, and works across departments to gain stakeholder consensus.
  • Maintains strong expertise in multi-cloud technical environments and serves as a leader, consultant, mentor, and tutor in technical architecture for Infrastructure Platforms staff.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills, negotiating compromises, demonstrating diplomacy in sensitive situations, and interacting effectively with peers and management across diverse cultures and fast-paced environments.
  • Applies mastery of architecture, design, business processes, and industry-wide cloud technology strategies and best practices.
