As an Operations Control Manager (Vice President) within Personal Investing, you will partner across business, operations, legal, compliance, risk, audit, and technology to embed risk management into product delivery and daily operations. You will help maintain a strong, consistent control environment through joint accountability, ensuring operational risk is mitigated and our team culture remains inclusive and dynamic. Your work will directly support the firm’s mission to deliver secure, innovative wealth solutions to our clients.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust control frameworks that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, aligned to the Compliance and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) program.
  • Cultivate and leverage strategic relationships with Personal Investing stakeholders to proactively identify risks across new and existing products and design effective mitigation strategies that support business objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Trading and Operations processes; systematically identify potential risks and embed efficient, scalable controls that enhance operational integrity and support delivery.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for product development and change initiatives; ensure risks are identified, evaluated, and addressed through well‑designed preventative and detective controls.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls; recommend targeted improvements, automation opportunities, and sustainable remediation.
  • Provide training and guidance on control processes, CORE practices, and risk culture; foster proactive ownership of operational risk across teams.
  • Contribute across four CORE pillars: i) Control Design & Expertise; ii) Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment; iii) Issue Management; iv) Control Governance & Reporting.
  • Support consistent, rigorous operational risk practices and control programs, including control committee reporting, risk mitigation plans, key risk indicators, control performance evaluations, and independent challenge.
  • Review, analyze, and manage KRI/KPI and other program metrics to assess the health of the control environment and inform risk‑based decision‑making.
  • Translate business processes into risk & control heatmaps and dashboards to facilitate prioritization and senior‑level discussions.
  • Partner effectively with colleagues across business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, and technology control functions to maintain strong working loops and deliver outcomes.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong experience in Operational Risk Management gained within product management, controls, compliance, audit, wealth management, or a comparable environment in a large financial institution, regulator, consultancy, or retail investments manager.
  • Demonstrated acumen for risk identification and assessment and for designing effective, sustainable control mechanisms across both existing businesses and new product initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of wealth management products, regulations, and associated risks.
  • Good knowledge of FCA requirements and regulatory expectations, including general investments, CASS, and Consumer Duty; familiarity with ISA and Pension regulations is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of the full trade lifecycle—from order initiation and execution through capture, confirmation, and settlement—and experience working with trading systems and the operational processes/control requirements supporting trade management.
  • Proven ability to articulate key risks within business processes and translate them into risk & control heatmaps and prioritized action plans.
  • Experience partnering with business and other stakeholders to manage remediation of operational risk issues to closure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders in a meaningful and actionable manner.
  • Experience with process mapping and controls documentation; comfortable working in an agile, evolving environment.
  • Effective time management and prioritization; detail‑oriented with high levels of accuracy and integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
