As a Software Engineer III (UI Developer) at JPMorgan Chase within Finance Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for building compelling, performant user interfaces and carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives. You will work on highly impactful projects, building client-facing applications with modern UI frameworks while leveraging your backend knowledge to deliver end-to-end solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops performant, scalable, and responsive front-end applications using modern UI frameworks and best practices
  • Implements micro frontend architectures to enable modular, maintainable, and independently deployable UI components
  • Adopts the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies to deliver exceptional user experiences
  • Builds reusable capabilities and patterns for fast UI application development using firmwide UI toolkit and standards
  • Writes comprehensive unit tests using Jest and other testing frameworks (React Testing Library, Playwrite) to ensure code quality and reliability
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code with robust software design and architecture
  • Demonstrates expert-level debugging skills using browser developer tools to identify and resolve complex front-end issues
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Designs and implements hands-on solutions while providing technical leadership and mentorship to more junior team members
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Hands-on practical experience in UI development with proficiency in React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and building scalable front-end applications
  • Strong understanding of modern React features (hooks, context, state management) and front-end architecture
  • Proven experience with micro frontend architectures and component-based design patterns
  • Strong expertise in unit testing frameworks, particularly Jest, React Testing Library, and end-to-end testing tools like Cypress
  • Advanced debugging skills using browser developer tools (Chrome DevTools, Firefox Developer Tools) for performance profiling, network analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of APIs (RESTful) and integration with backend services
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Knowledge of Python and backend technologies (e.g., FastAPI, Spring Boot) to collaborate effectively with backend teams
  • Experience with JPMorgan's open source design system/UI toolkit SALT
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build tools (Webpack, Vite) and deployment pipelines
  • Practical experience with performance optimization techniques and web vitals
  • Experience building in Cloud environments, particularly AWS
  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or Figma. Understanding of secure coding practices and application resiliency
  • Experience building reusable standardized UI capabilities for accelerated development. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
