Bring your fund accounting experience to a role with strong visibility and meaningful stakeholder engagement. You will help manage key audit and financial reporting cycles, solve complex inquiries, and strengthen the quality of accounting records used by internal partners, clients, and external auditors.
As an Accounting Control Group - Associate at JP Morgan within the Accounting Control Group, you will support fund accounting audit and financial reporting cycles by delivering core audit support, investigating inquiries, and communicating fund accounting activity clearly and confidently to stakeholders. You will also perform reviews of the accounting records and work with internal stakeholders to resolve exception items to ensure the accounting data is always audit-ready.
Job responsibilities
- Deliver standard audit support packages and monitor/respond to fund accounting inquiries during reporting and audit cycles
- Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders related to audit and reporting cycles
- Participate in video calls and in-person meetings with external auditors and clients
- Monitor subsequent accounting activity and prepare general ledger adjusting entries
- Analyze accounting records and clearly articulate fund accounting transactions and processes
- Build and apply knowledge of internal systems, operations, client structures, portfolios, deliverables, and client-specific requirements
- Apply end-to-end fund accounting knowledge (for example trades, corporate actions, reconciliations, pricing, and accruals) to respond to inquiries
- Independently research and respond to auditor and internal inquiries in a timely manner
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Relevant experience in fund accounting, fund services, audit support, or financial reporting cycle support
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work productively within a team while maintaining a high degree of independence
- Ability to partner with internal teams and external clients to resolve open questions or exception items
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort escalating when appropriate
- Proven problem and issue resolution skills
- Ability to initiate and drive change and process improvements
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Strong understanding of mutual fund investment types (including fixed income, equities, and derivatives) and related fund accounting transactions
- Strong understanding of the net asset value process, including stock and cash reconciliations
- Prior experience in Fund Accounting or Financial Reporting
- Experience with a fund accounting platform such as Invest One
- Experience managing or coaching a small team (for example 1–3)
