The Product Merchandising Team UK and Nordics positions our local award-winning, industry-leading content for distribution on the Netflix service through our work on individual titles as well as the broader catalogue in our markets.
The Role
We are seeking a seasoned, culturally fluent Editorial Writer to join our local UK Nordics Product Merchandising team, helping bring our powerhouse content to members around the world through impactful, engaging, and on-brand copy. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months to cover for a parental leave.
As an Editorial Writer, you will play a pivotal role in connecting our members globally to UK and Nordic content they love; crafting synopses, collection copy, row naming, and messaging across multiple member touchpoints.
This role will require deep expertise in both title and catalog writing, as well as the ability to specialize in a variety of Merchandising writing needs. You will partner closely with our writing vendors (agencies, contractors based largely in the UK), the UK/Nordics Local Leader, EMEA Editorial Writers and Editors and Local Marketing to ensure every word resonates with our local audience(s) and aligns with our global standards.
This role has a local reporting line into the UK and Nordic Director for Product Merchandising and is based in London. They are also expected to work closely with our regional EMEA Managing Editor and other Editorial Writers in both EMEA and UCAN.
Key Responsibilities
Title & Catalog Writing: Write and edit high-quality, engaging copy for titles and catalogs - including synopses, collection copy, row naming, and messaging/CMP deliverables - tailored to the nuances of the UK and Nordics and the Netflix brand voice. We are hugely proud of local titles such as Adolescence, Baby Reindeer, The Gentlemen, Secrets We Keep, The Asset and Troll - and take pride in representing these titles in an authentic manner to both local and global members.
Creative Briefs & Vendor Management: Align with local stakeholders on briefs for high-priority titles (e.g. the four global tentpole titles from the UK in 2026), and create/supervise briefs for external vendors. Provide editorial oversight to vendors (primarily UK based) and guidance to ensure consistency and quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with local Product, Marketing, Content and other teams to integrate writing needs into the broader merchandising and launch process. Work closely with the EMEA Managing Editor, CPOP, and Product Language Management team.
Messaging Writing: Write and edit high-quality, engaging copy for consumer messaging channels (email, push notifications, in-app notifications) - including subject lines, headlines, and body copy for promotional and lifecycle messaging campaigns - tailored to CRM channel best practices as well as the nuances of the UK and Nordics and the Netflix brand voice. Local nuances include a focus on British English and the right tone and humor for the UK. For the Nordics we have a humble yet confident approach to local genres such as Nordic Noir and our high quality locally produced films such as Troll and The Swedish Connection.
Quality Control & Documentation: Continuously update and maintain documentation for writing standards, style guides, and workflows. Audit and provide feedback on writing tasks executed by external partners, ensuring adherence to editorial standards. Drive copy excellence and experimentation in the UK Catalogue Merchandising Pilot as mentioned below.
Innovation & Experimentation: Contribute to innovation initiatives, AB testing, and the continuous improvement of writing tools and workflows. Share insights and best practices to elevate the member experience. In 2026 the UK is the EMEA Pilot Market for Catalogue Merchandising - meaning we have even more opportunities to showcase our local content in engaging ways to our members.
Market & Cultural Expertise: Bring deep content and cultural knowledge of your the UK and Nordics, using data and insights to craft copy that is locally relevant and globally appealing. Share market context with cross-functional partners and advocate for local needs.
